Shortly after the announcement, Kaepernick shared a message by Robert L. Allen, quoting from ‘Black Awakening.’ The former NFL star wrote:
“Reading always gives me clarity.
“What [they] seek is not an end to oppression, but the transfer of the oppressive apparatus into their own hands. “
Robert L. Allen, Black Awakening in Capitalist America (1969)”

He also shared a highlighted passage from a book that seems to criticize the rapper.

Soon after sharing, actor Larenz Tate gave his co-signing of Kaepernick’s message.

Without completely making a direct mention of Jay-Z or his NFL partnership, the former NFL star has made it very clear that he isn’t particularly on the same page as the Roc Nation founder.
As previously reported, following the announcement of their blockbuster deal, Jay Z was quoted as saying that he consulted with Kaepernick. Jay Z stated,
“I would never tell you what me and Kap’s private conversation was about. But we spoke, yeah.”

Nessa, who has been in a relationship with Kaepernick since 2015, and others who are close to former NFLer, state he was not involved with the initiative, nor did he get a heads up from Jay-Z. Nessa tweeted,
“THIS is a lie. COLIN never spoke to Jay-Z and NFL ahead of that deal being done. They NEVER included him in any discussion.”
