Oprah Winfrey And Gayle King Watch ‘TINA’ On Broadway With Tina Turner!
Tina Turner is probably the best person to watch a Broadway show about her music with. And Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King can check that off their list.
The trio enjoyed the sounds of Tony-nominated actress Adrienne Warren channeling her inner Tina Turner for the opening night of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre Thursday (Nov. 7).

Other famous faces in the audience included Spike Lee, Tiffany Haddish, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hoston, Tituss Burgess, and Deborah Cox.

Turner also popped up on fans with a special surprise.
She hit the stage to give a speech after the show was finished.

The musical’s creative team and cast also joined her as she said,
“This musical is my life but it’s like poison that turned to medicine. I can never be as happy as I am now.”
The musical, which previously played overseas in London’s West End last year and in Germany earlier this year, highlights the pivotal points of her 50-year music career. From her time in Nutbush, Tennessee as a young child to relocating to St. Louis and enduring the physical abuse at the hands of her ex-husband Ike Turner, to later evolving into the superstar and Queen of Rock ‘n Roll.
It features her hits like “Nutbush City Limits”, “River Deep, Mountain High”, “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and of course “Proud Mary.”
Her current marriage to Erwin Back is also a storyline, along with her relationship with her sons Ronnie, 59, and Raymond Craig, who tragically took his own life at 60-years-old in 2018.
Turner penned a speech in the program as well.
“I’ve been blessed with a wonderful career. After more than 50 years of performing I don’t need a musical, I don’t need another show. But I get so many cards and letters, I still can’t believe how people feel about me on stage and the legacy they say I left.”
“People tell me I gave them hope. It meant so much to people I feel I have to pass it on, and I hope this show serves what the people need, as a reminder of my work.”
Congrats to Tina Turner and the cast on the opening night!
