Ari Lennox Defends Lizzo After ‘Truth Hurts’ Singer Trends For Revealing Outfit At NBA Game: Stop Using My Name To Bash & Body Shame Lizzo!

Ari Lennox often uses her social media platforms to express her views of all things wrong with the world and the music industry. And her latest series of tweets were no different.

She first clarified her previous tweets about not winning any Soul Train Awards this year was not directed toward Lizzo, who won two.

“I know this is late but I’m tired!!! Stop using my name and my previous rant to bash and body shame Lizzo. For the last time my previous rant was no diss to her. I’m not here for that ignorant s*** and want no inclusion!!!”

She then seemed to address the idea that Lizzo was trending after the “Truth Hurts” singer rocked a controversial outfit at a Lakers game.

She also spoke about being criticized for her own features.

She added,

“Tearing a woman down to build up another is not true praise. I don’t want praise if it’s not positive and genuine. Stop using me to pursue your body-shaming and self-hating agenda!”
She ended with,
“stop being mean. stop trying to silence black women.”

Ari Lennox’s alleged issue with Lizzo seemed to begin after Ari Lennox didn’t win any of the three Soul Train Awards that she was up for this year, while artists like Lizzo won two: Video of the Year for “Juice” and Album/Mixtape of the Year for Cuz I Love You.

Ari shared her frustration with the loss on social media and wrote,

“It’s not just an award. It wasn’t any awards show. It was the soul train awards. As you can see I’m a big fan of soul music and a huge fan of soul train’s history. Being snubbed was something I always expected and was definitely prepared for, just not by them.”

I made a soulful album. I never ran from who I am. I just expected that one platform to understand that.” Lennox made clear that she feels she lost the award, because she wasn’t ‘trendy’ or pop enough.”

While she didn’t name-drop Lizzo, many fans jumped to Ari’s defense and said that Lizzo shouldn’t have won because she’s more of a pop artist.

It looks like Ari Lennox is standing up for Lizzo this time.
