Tyler Perry Reveals He Writes All Of His Shows Alone: I Have No Writers Room
Tyler Perry’s “The Haves & The Have Nots” has been a staple on OWN since it first debuted in 2014.
Tyler Perry has shared one of the main secrets of the show’s success as it nears its seventh season, which is set to premiere Tuesday (Jan. 7).
He shared a video of the pile of scripts of “The Haves & The Have Nots” as well as his new BET+ series “Sistas” and “The Oval Room” and other shows.
He revealed,
“I don’t know if you know this, but all shows on television have a writers room. And most of the time there are 10 people, 12, whatever, that write on these television shows. Well, I have no writers room. Nobody writes any of my work. I write it all. Why am I tell you this? I wrote all of these scripts by myself in 2019. What’s my point? Work ethic!”
His work ethic certainly paid off in 2019. He launched his infamous Tyler Perry Studios in October. The studio sits on 330 acres at former military base Fort McPherson.
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported that he spent $16 million on the star-studded event.
Insiders told us that Tyler Perry footed the bill for travel accommodations for his guests that included Beyonce, Ava DuVernay, and the ladies of “The Real”, just to name a few.
He reportedly went as far as getting private jets for his VIP guests, and allegedly covered hotel stays.
The studio had more than 100 chandeliers, $700,000 worth of carpet and lighting, staging props and the epic fireworks show is said to have cost more than $1 million. The director also allegedly paid for artists like Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige to perform.
