Playboi Carti Teases Album Release With New Cover Art Amid Recent Arrest

Just days after his arrest in Georgia, rapper Playboi Carti (real name (real name Jordan Carter), unveiled an unexpected teaser with a dark and mysterious cover for his highly anticipated album, the follow-up to his 2018 debut Billboard charter, Die Lit. 

On Wednesday (April 15th), the Atlanta rapper posted his sophomore album art after years of reported delays for its release. In the cryptic image, Playboi Carti seemingly embraces the darkness of the cover, while dressed in all black.

Last year, Playboi Carti spoke on his album’s setbacks.

“I could be done if I wanted to. I’m just trying to top sh*t. I might make the hardest song ever tomorrow.”

In addition to the anticipation of his release, chart-topper Drake shared his excitement for Playboi Carti’s latest project on his Instagram stories after Playboi Carti’s announcement.

His second release has taken a back burner due to previous projects being plagued by over 20 leaks, including “Butterfly Doors,” “Buffy the Body” and “Red on Red.”

As previously reported, Playboi Carti was recently stopped by Clayton County police in Georgia after authorities discovered Carti was driving his Lamborghini with an expired tag.

To add, Playboi Carti was arrested in the same alleged black matte Lamborghini his girlfriend, rapper Iggy Azealia purchased in 2019 as a Christmas gift. See that here.

Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill says his deputies discovered 12 bags of marijuana, Xanax, codeine and oxycodone, along with three guns inside the vehicle.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Playboi Carti and a passenger were arrested and taken into custody.

Playboi Carti was charged with marijuana possession, improperly passing an emergency vehicle and not displaying an updated decal on his license plate, court records show. According to reports, he quickly was released on an unreported bond from jail shortly after his arrest.
