Rapper/TV Host Eve Is #MaskingForAFriend To Help Stop The Spread Of COVID-19
Rapper/TV Host Eve Is #MaskingForAFriend Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
Eve (real name Eve Jihan Jeffers Cooper) is #MaskingForAFriend. The rapper turned TV host has taken to social media, showing off how she’s protecting herself during the coronavirus pandemic. Modeling her homemade face cover to help stop the spread of COVID-19, she writes:
We know that social distancing is the most important thing we can do to stop the spread of COVID-19. The CDC now also recommends wearing homemade cloth masks when we leave the house for essential errands, in addition to continued practices like staying home and washing our hands. Those with low or no symptoms can still spread the virus, so masks help to reduce that unintentional transmission. I wear this mask so that I can protect my neighbors, pharmacists, and the frontline workers who are sacrificing every day to fight this disease. It’s one way we can say ‘thank you’ and keep each other safe. Who are you masking for? #MaskingForAFriend @PandemicActionNetwork
Eve’s post comes amidst a network of leading international organizations announcing the creation of an advocacy initiative to ignite a global movement to help accelerate an end to the COVID-19 pandemic and enhance our preparedness to stop future pandemics. The Pandemic Action Network will advocate for policy changes and increased support and resources to ensure countries are better prepared to prevent, detect and respond to pandemic threats. This initiative will also host “For Humankind”, a new effort to promote accurate information to ensure people around the world understand what they need to do to protect themselves and their communities from COVID-19.
This effort is being created with support from founding members the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Johnson & Johnson, in addition to the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Schmidt Futures. The Network will initially comprise of a dedicated and highly experienced secretariat and key advocacy leaders in Seattle, Washington DC, Brussels, London and Beijing. They will work in partnership with individuals and organizations around the world to advance a robust policy and advocacy agenda. Click here to learn more.
