Mathew Knowles Is Hopeful About A Destiny’s Child Reunion: I’ll Be Supportive As I Can Be As Their Manager
Mathew Knowles is making headlines again after talking about the possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion.
In a new interview, he says he’s a fan of the ladies and seemed optimistic about the chance that we could see Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and Beyonce Knowles-Carter grace the stage again as the platinum-selling, multiple Grammy Award-winning R&B group Destiny’s Child:
Each one of those ladies are successful in their own right. Michelle has done exceptionally well in the Gospel arena. Kelly has done exceptionally well in TV and we know the success of Beyonce. So they all have their individual solo careers and, so, coordinating family, careers…that’s a lot of juggling. I’m sure in due time the ladies will decide if that’s what they wanna do. If they do it or do not, I’ll [be] as supportive as I can be as their [Destiny’s Child’s] manager.
Mathew Knowles also talked about what readers can learn about the humble beginnings of Destiny’s Child in his new book “Destiny’s Child: The Untold Story” that was released in December 2019:
One thing that you learn in the first chapters, is that the early rendition of Destiny’s Child was a revolving door with over 20 members. So it has always been a revolving door. We talk about how the group got started. They were 10, 11 years old, went to Star Search…and they lost. But a lot of people lost.
That’s how life is. Sometimes there’s failure. Sometimes we make mistakes but it’s an opportunity to grow. Destiny’s Child is a real example of failure multiple times in their career, returning that to success.

Mathew Knowles also answered a question about his thoughts on whether or not groups today can become as successful as Destiny’s Child:
It hasn’t been done after Destiny’s Child. We really haven’t had a breakthrough girls’ group. It’s very difficult. There’s a lot of dynamics that are different than even with a boys’ group. It’s also about teamwork and friendship. It’s not just about talent and you have to put all of that together with a team. That becomes very, quite difficult when you don’t have everyone on the same page and each going individually rather than collectively.
Beyonce‘s father went on to praise the performance of the surprise on-stage reunion of Destiny’s Child when the trio performed together at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2018 and their dynamics as a group:
It also shows how much they practiced that 10 years later they can not miss a beat. It’s just remarkable. It’s shows that their dedication was really there. And I’m sure….we don’t know how many times they practiced just to do that 3-minutes on Coachella. I know these ladies. They have strong work ethics and I’m so extremely proud of all three of them.
Meanwhile, he announced that a Destiny’s Child musical was in the works last year.
