Rapper Loon Spotted Out Publicly For The 1st Time Since Being Released From Jail, Joins Instagram
90s rapper Loon has been spotted publicly for the first time since being released from jail after nearly nine years.
The Harlem native, whose birth name is Chauncey Hawkins, was seen posted up with a group of friends in an Instagram post by @og_infamouspop Thursday (July 30th), which was captioned:
“Yeah we are back like we never left. Still Brothers still solid. Met @__bu through @loon.tv and we have been together ever since”

Loon, 45, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin. The former rapper pleaded guilty in 2013 and received a 14-year sentence with an initial release date of August 2021. While incarcerated, Loon converted to Islam and changed his name from Chauncey Hawkins to Amir Junaid Muhadith and also gave up rap as efforts to turn his life around.
Loon was released on July 29th from a prison facility in Wildwood, Florida due to good behavior and a COVID-19 outbreak. Loon shared that his plans since release are to take care of his mother, who recently had a heart attack and his grandmother, who also needs assistance dealing with ailments of her own:
“My mother recently had a heart attack and had to get surgery and get a loop recorder implantation. She is in her late 60s. I’ve already lost my grandfather since I’ve been incarcerated and do not wish to lose her before my release. She could use my assistance to help care for her. My Grandmother is 90, and she is also ailing.”
He has also joined Instagram and made his first post.
