George Floyd – Officers Involved With His Death Blame Each Other, Now Seeking Separate Trials
It appears that the former Minneapolis police officers that are responsible for the death of George Floyd are now turning their backs on one another. According to reports, attorneys for the four ex-Minneapolis policemen (Derek Chauvin, J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, and Tou Thao) charged in the death of George Floyd are asking that their clients have their own trial, as the men now blame each other for what took place. However, prosecutors believe all four men involved should be tried together because the evidence between them is similar. Prosecutors wrote in a court document:
“It is impossible to evaluate any individual Defendant’s conduct in a vacuum.”
They added,
“Here, all four Defendants worked together to murder Floyd: Chauvin, Kueng, and Lane pinned Floyd face-down, while Thao stopped the crowd from intervening, enabling the other Defendants to maintain their positions. Defendants also discussed and coordinated their actions throughout the incident.”
Prosecutors also believe that George Floyd’s family would likely be traumatized by multiple trials.

George Floyd
As previously reported, George Floyd was unfortunately suffocated to death on May 25th, while in handcuffs, by Derek Chauvin who had his knee pressed into Floyd’s neck for over 8 minutes. Derek Chauvin has since been charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and manslaughter. While his counterparts, Thomas Lane, J. Kueng, and Tou Thao, have been charged with aiding and abetting, second-degree murder, and manslaughter.

The four men are scheduled to appear in court today, September 11th, for a hearing on several issues. This will include the prosecution’s request to hold a joint trial and the defense’s requests to move the trial away from Minneapolis and to sequester the jury and keep jurors anonymous.
According to reports, Derek Chauvin attorneys have previously requested that charges against him be dropped because they feel there’s no sufficient evidence against him.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family and loved ones of George Floyd.
