Breonna Taylor’s Mother Breaks Silence On Grand Jury Decision: The System Failed Her
Breonna Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, has spoken out for the first time after a grand jury’s decision concerning her death.
As previously reported, on Wednesday, Sept. 23, a grand jury indicted one officer on criminal charges 6 months after Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by police in Kentucky as they executed a warrant at her apartment in March. Former Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Brett Hankison has been charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment for shots that were fired in a neighboring apartment. The charges were not related to Breonna Taylor’s actual death and none of the two other officers involved have been charged.
Tamika Palmer broke her silence on the decision on Instagram Thursday (Sept. 24th).
Shes shared a portrait of Breonna Taylor with the caption:
“It’s still Breonna Taylor for me… #ThesystemfailedBreonna“

A Facebook page that allegedly belongs to Kenneth Walker, the boyfriend of Breonna Taylor also shared a message that reads:
“It’s still #Breewayy til the end”

Kenneth Walker is reportedly suing the city of Louisville for immunity against his actions the night his girlfriend was killed by police under Kentucky’s “stand your ground” law. According to reports, Kenneth Walker fired at police under the notion that it was an intruder. That resulted in police firing back and ultimately killing Breonna Taylor. Kenneth Walker initially was charged with attempted murder and assault. However, those charges have since been dropped.
In a recent press conference, Walker said:
“I was raised by a good family. I am a legal gun owner and I would never knowingly shoot at a police officer.”
According to the suit, Walker asked three times, “Who is it?” and received no answer from the police involved in the incident before they broke the door open. The suit also states that he fired a single warning shot to
“scare away the intruder or intruders.”
Continued prayers for Breonna Taylor’s family and everyone impacted.
