Salt Bae’s Boston Restaurant Closed Down For Allegedly Violating COVID-19 Regulations

Boston may have a few more “salty” patrons after the recent shut down of famed restauranteur, “Salt Bae’s” famous steak house.  According to reports, Salt Bae (born Nusret Gökçe), has allegedly violated Boston’s COVID-19 restaurant regulations that require customers to “wear face coverings unless seated at tables,” as well as keep a social distance of six feet.

Salt Bae, the famous steakhouse chef, donned the name after becoming widely known following a video entitled “Ottoman Steak” posted in Jan. 2017 went viral.  The video shows Salt Bae suavely slicing then dressing an ottoman steak with salt.  His famous salt-throwing stance has become a social media go-to meme after more than 11 million views on his video.

Fast forward a few years, city officials have ordered his signature steakhouse in Boston to shut its doors after finding customers packed in the restaurant without wearing masks and without social distancing.

Video posted on the famous chef’s Instagram page shows the profound popularity of the restaurant, with dozens of fans in line waiting to be seated.

In a new video circulating, a mask-less woman can be seen twerking and being filmed by Salt Bae as an irate man begins banging on the door and enters the restaurant yelling at the woman.  The video that originated from TikTok is getting all kinds of reactions on Twitter.  Read below.

Reportedly, the Nusr-Et restaurant will respond to the alleged violations during a couple of hearings that are scheduled in the near future.
