Hard-Knock Life :: Lock-Out Forces Amar’e Stoudemire to Downgrade Lifestyle

What does a 28-year-old NBA basketball player do financially, while enduring the NBA lockout? He downgrades and that’s exctly what Amar’e Stoudemire has decided to do. Rumor has it that, as he loses millions from his $100 million, five-year contract with the Knicks, it’s the perfect time to get rid of some of his homes in Miami, LA, Phoenix, Manhattan and his rental in White Plains. A source told Page Six,
“He’s known for having ridiculous costs. He’s thinking if the season doesn’t happen, he’s going to lose $20 million this year.”
Stoudemire’s rep clarified,
“Amar’e decided not to renew David Lee’s apartment in White Plains. He spent all of his time in the city, so he didn’t need two places. Like most players, Amar’e was told to prepare for a lockout or any losses that it would cause. He has the same size staff that he had since last August. One assistant and one chef are the only two people who work with him full-time.”
Hard knock life, right?
