Congrats are in order for some of our favorite musical legends!
Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, LL Cool J, and Dionne Warwick are on the list of nominees for the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

To qualify, nominees are required to have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago. Jay-Z is one of only two of the 16 applicants that are on the list in the first year of being eligible. Band Foo Fighters is the other.

Chaka Khan and Whitney Houston were two of the three women who were nominated in 2020 (Chaka Khan received a nod as a feature with the group Rufus). Whitney Houston was ultimately inducted. This time around, a total of six women have been selected.

Other women like Dolly Parton and Mariah Carey are qualified to receive a nomination but have yet to.
The official inductees will be announced in May, followed by a ceremony in Cleveland later this year.
