Six Dr. Seuss Books Will No Longer Be Published Because Of Racist Imagery
Six of Dr. Seuss’s classic books will no longer be published due to racist images.
Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced the news in a statement to Associated Press Tuesday, March 2nd, which also marked the late author’s birthday. It said,
“These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong. Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families.”
The books that will end publication are: “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street”, “If I Ran the Zoo” , “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!,” and “The Cat’s Quizzer.”
The organization explained the decision and added,
“Dr. Seuss Enterprises listened and took feedback from our audiences including teachers, academics and specialists in the field as part of our review process. We then worked with a panel of experts, including educators, to review our catalog of titles.”
Many fans were livid about the news, causing Dr. Seuss to trend on Twitter Tuesday, March 2nd.

President Joe Biden also removed Dr. Seuss from the popular Read Across America program.
