Master P Awarded Honorary Doctorate By HBCU Lincoln University: From The Projects To Getting A Doctoral Degree
Congratulations are in order for Master P–or, rather, Dr. Master P!
Master P received an honorary Ph.D. in Humane Letters from Lincoln University–an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) located about an hour from Philadelphia. The rapper-turned-mogul announced the good news via Instagram yesterday (Monday, May 24th). Master P (real name Percy Robert Miller) posted a minute-and-a-half-long video to share his accomplishment, captioning the video:
“I guess I got to change me name to, Dr. P Miller. From the projects to getting a Doctoral degree from [Lincoln University]. Don’t be afraid to change, grow and educate yourself. I did it ! You can do it. #GODISGOOD#Nevertoolate#hbcu#NoLimit There is NO limit to your dreams #DRPMiller.”
The star shared similar sentiments within the actual video, excitedly telling onlookers:
“From the projects to getting a Doctoral degree! I did it, you can do it. Don’t let nothing stop you. Don’t let nobody tell you you can’t do it. There’s no limit to your success.”
Additionally, Lincoln University students and faculty praise Master P throughout his video, calling him an inspiration and a vital figure within the community.

With his latest accomplishment, the mogul joins an array of other artists who received honorary degrees, including Missy Elliott (Berklee College of Music), Sean “Diddy” Combs (Howard University), and Lil Wayne (University of Houston).
