A$AP Rocky Documentary ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ To Share Details Of His Sweden Arrest & Jail Time
A$AP Rocky’s time behind bars in Sweden will be featured in a documentary for Tribeca Film Festival’s Juneteenth programming.
In July 2019, A$AP Rocky was arrested initially for aggravated, then for simple assault in Stockholm, Sweden, after an altercation in the street that involved him and his entourage on June 30.

The alleged victim was beaten, kicked, and cut with broken bottles when down on the ground. He suffered several cuts requiring stitches and a fractured rib. A$AP Rocky spent weeks in jail as fans and celebrities pushed for his release back to the U.S.
He was later found guilty but wasn’t sentenced to any additional jail time. His co-defendants, Bladimir Emilio Corniel and David Tyrone Rispers, received the same verdict and sentence. All three also were ordered to pay the alleged victim damages. In the trial, the plaintiff’s lawyer asked for about $16,000 in compensation, but the court awarded 12,500 Swedish kronor, about $1,300, for pain, insult, and injuries.
Two years later, A$AP Rocky’s journey will be documented in the 105-minute project, which will also tell the story of how he acquired fame.
Some familiar faces who pushed for his release will be featured in the documentary including Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell, A$AP Ferg, and Tyler The Creator.
A press release reads,
“Stockholm Syndrome chronicles the meteoric rise of this contemporary trendsetter, capturing the exuberance of youth and urgency of hip-hop in equal parts, before taking a detour into darkness.”
