Kim Kardashian Receives A Cease & Desist From Businesswoman Over Her SKKN Beauty Brand, Claims Name Is Too Similar To Her Own Skincare Business
Kim Kardashian may have some legal trouble on the horizon!
Yesterday (Thursday, July 29th), TMZ revealed that Kim Kardashian received a cease and desist letter over the new name of her beauty brand, SKKN. The reality star-turned-businesswoman had filed paperwork to trademark SKKN earlier this month.
However, a woman named Cydnie Lunsford has recently come forward to push the brakes on Kim Kardashian‘s trademark attempt. Cydnie Lunsford owns a skincare business called SKKN+, and she believes that the similar brand names would cause marketplace confusion. Additionally, she claims she filed paperwork to trademark SKKN+ back in March, and the business had been in operation since at least 2018. As such, Cydnie Lunsford is claiming the name is already taken.

Kim Kardashian‘s attorney, Michael G. Rhodes, responded to the matter. He told TMZ:
“We certainly appreciate and support small businesses, and our hat is off to Ms. Lunsford. But the question at hand is one of trademark law and we’ve not done anything deserving of legal action by her. We are disappointed that she has chosen to run to the media knowing that we were scheduling a call for tomorrow, requested by her attorney. So while disagreeing with the letter, we’re hopeful that we can smooth things over once both sides speak.”
