In response to a fan wishing Ali luck, Wesley Snipes wrote,
“He will do great.”

However, when a fan replied, ‘but YOU are Blade,’ Snipes reminded followers,
“I’ll always be Blade.”
Wesley Snipes took on the role of Blade, a day-walking vampire who hunts other vampires, back in 1998. Following the success of the first film Snipes went on to star in Blade II in 2002 and Blade: Trinity in 2004.
Ali was announced as the new Blade last year, garnishing positive reviews from fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On his character, the Oscar winner said,
“That Marvel world is obviously the biggest in film, and just to get my little introduction to that – starting with the Comic-Con a couple of years ago, and now the very early stages of stepping into the shoes of that character – it felt special and really cool. I’m excited to get going and do more.”

Ali’s version of Blade was officially introduced in a post-credit scene of the new movie Eternals. Referring to his introduction, he said,
“It was really cool, getting to do that. It was scary. Because, you know, you’re talking before you’re filming it. I’m pretty particular about my choices, like most actors, and so having to make some choices – even with a line, vocally – this early on, it brought up some very real anxieties. And it made the job real. It’s like, ‘Okay, this is happening now, you know, and that’s exciting.”
