Andy Cohen Calls ‘RHSLC’ Star Jennie Nguyen’s Racist Facebook Posts “Disgusting”: There Are Many Serious Discussions Happening Right Now About Everything
Andy Cohen talks about Jennie Nguyen’s racist Facebook posts.
Real Housewives franchise producer Andy Cohen addressed Jennie Nguyen’s racist Facebook posts. Nguyen is the newest addition to the Salt Lake City cast, and fans recently called her out over a slew of offensive posts she made in 2020. Of her racially charged tirades, Cohen stated:
“People were very upset about the lack of discussion on last night’s episode relating to Jennie’s disgusting and upsetting posts. And I’ve also seen all the tweets wanting to know what’s being done about those posts.”
He continued:
“[I] just wanna say–in case anyone doesn’t realize it–that there are many serious discussions happening right now about everything. And, I can’t address the situation right now, but it will be addressed very soon, and thank you for your patience. And the posts were very upsetting, rightfully, and disgusting.”

Jennie, who’s Vietnamese, allegedly had several posts that were “anti-Black, anti-BLM, pro-Trump, pro–Blue Lives Matter, conspiratorial, and anti-vaxx” on her Facebook page. About 42 screenshots of insensitive posts and memes from her wall were shared by a Reddit user. In one of her posts, she reportedly spoke negatively about George Floyd’s murder. They have since been deleted.
Shortly after the incident, Nguyen released an official statement on Instagram:
“I want to acknowledge and apologize for my deleted Facebook posts from 2020 that resurfaced today. At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were.”
She continued:
“It’s why I deactivated that account more than a year ago and why I continue to try to learn about perspectives different from my own. I regret those posts and am sincerely sorry for the pain they caused.”
She captioned the text:
“#hateisavirus.”

As some viewers call for Nguyen to be fired, her co-stars have expressed their disdain for her actions. Her castmate, Jen Shah, whose husband is black, said:
“I must now stand up, on behalf of my husband and sons who are African American, to say that I am deeply offended by the racially insensitive posts and comments.”
She continued:
“It was infuriating to see her like and repost comments that made a mockery of and showed complete apathy toward those killed marching to bring awareness to the deep-seeded [sic] social justice issues that plague our country.”

Shah also stated that she felt Nguyen’s apology was “disingenuous.”
