Grits & Eggs Podcast Host Deante’ Kyle Opens Up About Raising His Autistic Son: “God Chose Me To Be This Child’s Father”
Grits & Eggs Podcast host @deante.kyle is opening up about raising his autistic teenage son and why he refuses to view his child’s diagnosis as a punishment or something negative.
During a candid conversation with theJasmineBrand founder @itsjasminebrand , Deante’ reflected on his experience as a father and shared how his spiritual beliefs have shaped his perspective on parenting.
“Earth ain’t for the weak,” he explained. “So anybody that choose to come here, they know what they’re getting themselves into.”
He continued,
“This child chose me. God chose me to be this child’s father because I’m capable.”
Deante’ also made it clear that he doesn’t believe having an autistic child means something is wrong with him or his son.
“I’m not going to pussyfoot around like it’s something wrong with me or something wrong with my child or I did something wrong or like this is a consequence or a punishment.”
Instead, he says he’s chosen to fully embrace his role as a father and celebrate his son for who he is.
“I’m fully embracing this. I love this little boy. He’s a genius to me.”
