Samuel L. Jackson, 73, has worked his way into becoming a household name. The films that Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in throughout his career have collectively grossed over $27 billion worldwide, which makes him one of the highest-grossing actors of all time. He’s also set to receive an honorary Oscar at the 2022 Governors Awards on March 25. Jackson married his wife in 1980 after meeting her in Atlanta while he attended Morehouse College. According to the “Pulp Fiction” actor, early on in their marriage, he struggled with addiction and he wasn’t emotionally present for his family. He continued
“I had basically moved into the basement of our brownstone. I was like the troll in the basement, and every now and then I’d come upstairs and hover around to do something. I was addicted and being crazy.”
He added that his wife didn’t have to help him get help, but she did.
“She didn’t have to try to fix me. She could’ve just said, ‘Get out,’ and left me into the world, let me go and be whatever I was going to be.”

LaTanya Jackson chimed in and shared why she stuck around during her husband’s addiction battle. She said,
“I couldn’t do that because I felt as though God had spoken to me and said, ‘Now, you can’t leave this young man like this. Give him some help. And then, if you feel like leaving afterwards, we’ll talk about it.'”
Thankfully, everything worked out for the famous couple! They even recently teamed up to produce the newly released Apple TV+ limited series “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey,” which is a drama starring Samuel L. Jackson as a man dealing with dementia.
