Young Thug’s Lyrics From Several Songs To Be Used As Evidence In RICO Indictment

New updates have recently surfaced surrounding Young Thug’s ongoing legal troubles.

According to reports, Young Thug will remain in Fulton County Jail until further notice along with 26 others affiliated with the alleged YSL (Young Stoner Life) gang, including fellow rapper Gunna

As previously reported, Young Thug, 30, was arrested on May 9 on gang-related charges in Georgia. He is being accused of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) (an alleged offense committed in January 2018). Young Thug was also hit with additional charges after Atlanta police raided his home in Buckhead, Georgia. The additional charges include; possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of controlled substances with the intent to distribute, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, sawed-off rifle, machine gun, dangerous weapon, or silencer, and other counts of gang related charges.

Reportedly, the 56-count indictment indicates that several of Young Thug’s, born Jeffrey Williams, songs between 2016 and 2021 are being cited and used against him as evidence in the ongoing case. This allegedly includes “Slime Language 2,” “Anybody,” “Take It To Trail,” “Slatty,” and “Ski” featuring Gunna.

Per reports, cited in the legal document is Thug’s “Slatty” verse where he raps

“I killed his man in front of his momma, like f*ck lil bruh, sister and his cousin, I shoot out, and kill em, not leaving a trace.”

The Grammy-Award-winning Atlanta rapper isn’t being accused of murder but is allegedly responsible for renting a vehicle that was used for murdering a rival gang member. On May 10 Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis was asked if Thug’s lyrics being used against him violated his First Amendment rights. He replied

“The First Amendment does not protect people from prosecutors using lyrics as evidence. We put it as overt within the RICO count because we believe that’s exactly what it is.”

Thug’s attorneys are set to make their arguments for bond on June 2. However, due to an alleged conflict of interest, prosecutors filed a motion to have Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, removed from the case.
