Issa Rae Reveals Release Date & Drops Trailer For New Series ‘Rap Sh!t’
“Insecure” may be over but Issa Rae’s newest project is right around the corner!
Since her hit HBO series “Insecure” came to an end last year, many fans have been waiting on what’s next from entertainment mogul Issa Rae, 37. Today (June 13) Issa Rae revealed that her highly anticipated comedy series “Rap Sh!t” will be coming to a screen near you on July 21st! The HBO series follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (portrayed by actress Aida Osman) and Mia (portrayed by actress/rapper KaMillion) as they reunite to form a rap group.

The one-minute trailer shows some of the shenanigans that the two girls have to go through in hopes of getting their rap careers off of the ground.

“Rap Sh!t” is executive produced by Issa and showrunner Syreeta Singleton, as well as Montrel McKay for HOORAE, Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Deniese Davis.
Hip hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “Pee” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE.
