Suge Knight’s Wrongful Death Lawsuit Ends In A Mistrial

Suge Knight avoids yet another lawsuit payout.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge declared a mistrial in the wrongful death lawsuit against former rap executive Marion “Suge” Knight, 53, acccording to the Los Angeles Times.

The lawsuit was filed in 2015 by Lillian Carter and her two daughters after her husband, Terry Carter, was hit by Suge Knight‘s vehicle and killed during a promotional event for the music biopic, “Straight Outta Compton.”

Suge Knight struck Carter with his truck after hitting Cle “Bone” Sloan, an advisor at the time on the biopic featuring Knight. Sloan refused to testify against him.

Jurors were unable to reach a verdict, deadlocking 7-5 in favor of Knight being liable. After they announced being at an impasse last week, Compton Superior Court Judge Thomas Long urged them to return this week and keep working. However, after only meeting for 30 minutes on Wednesday, Judge Long took the action to declare the mistrial. Civil trials need nine vote to reach a verdict.

Knight pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in September 2018 and was sentenced to 28 years in prison, which he is currently serving. He struck a plea deal just a few days before a trial was set to begin for the murder and attempted murder of Carter.
