Latto Responds To Criticism Surrounding Her Forthcoming Track “P*ssy,” Which Will Address The Overturning Of Roe V. Wade: This Song Is About Empowering Women

Latto‘s new song, “P*ssy,” is stirring up a lot of controversy, and it hasn’t even been released yet.

Earlier this week, Latto teased her followers with a snippet of her forthcoming track via her Instagram account, prompting fans to flood the comments in anticipation.

Set to be unveiled on Friday, July 15, “P*ssy” will serve as a response to the contentious overturning of Roe V. Wade.

Latto has since uploaded a clip of boycotters holding up Roe V. Wade signs, along with the official cover art to “P*ssy,” in promotion of the awaited tune.

Soon after the celebrated rapstress released the sneak peek to the song addressing the controversial Roe V. Wade ruling, there were complaints about the vulgarity of the tune and the “narrative” of female rappers in today’s time.

In a recent tweet made to Latto, someone said:

“The narrative around female rappers that all they do is talk abt p*ssy.. is pretty much true now.”

Latto responded with:

“Lmao y’all hear “p*ssy” and get ur panties in a bunch. This song is about empowering women & roe v wade but proceed”

Another tweeter also indicated that Latto‘s stance on women’s empowerment is only for profit purposes.

“The point is, you’re using it to profit, a real woman would use their power to change something, not to chart on the bubbling under.”

The “Big Energy” lyricist immediately shut down those claims, making it known that she has been using her platform and her pockets to make a change for women.

“I actually am donating proceeds… Y’all be the same ones saying “why u gotta post everything” if I do & assume I’m not doing it if I don’t post it lol however I AM using my power (platform) to make a change regardless shut yo fake woke a** up what are YOU doing???”

Latto ended her Twitter rant by posing a question to the naysayers.

“Y’all complain about female rap lacking substance but then say I’m ‘capitalizing’ when I speak on sh*t help me understand???”

Latto Claps Back at Criticism

Last month, The Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion. Of course, the news brought about loads of chaos–on and offline.

Last week, President Joe Biden signed an executive order to maintain access to reproductive health services.

In a statement, Biden said,

“I don’t think the court, or for that matter, the Republicans who for decades have pushed the extreme agenda, have a clue about the power of American women.
