2Pac’s Sister Says Trustee Has Not Been Transparent About The Late Rapper’s Estate Amid Claims Millions Were Embezzled
The unfortunate financial dealings surrounding 2Pac’s estate are still being investigated.
As previously reported, a lawsuit was filed in January by 2Pac’s sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, and ‘The Tupac Shakur Foundation’ against the appointed trustee of 2Pac’s estate, music executive Tom Whalley, who is the former chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Records.
Tom Whalley became the trustee for the estate after 2Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, passed away in 2016. Afeni Shakur was the original beneficiary following the murder of the iconic rapper in 1996, which is largely made up of funds and assets left by 2Pac, born Tupac Shakur.

2Pac’s sister Sekyiwa Shakur and ‘The Tupac Shakur Foundation’ accused Tom Whalley of embezzling millions “for his own benefit.” Now, Sekyiwa Shakur alleges that Tom has been withholding information as he mishandles her brother’s assets.
According to reports, Sekyiwa claims that Tom has not been transparent in reporting information about the estate to its beneficiaries, despite the court ordering him to do so on various occasions. Sekyiwa says that Tom has demonstrated a “false sense of entitlement, disregard for transparency and unwillingness to properly comply with his obligation to account to the petitioners and act as a fiduciary.”
Sekyiwa’s attorneys, Londell McMillan, Donald David, and Joshua R. Mandell, reportedly stated earlier this week that the music executive has not been following what the judge ordered in terms of delivering specific information to the court. Her lawyers wrote:
“Respondent could very easily have provided these documents in support of his accounting, but has refused to produce any. Respondent has chosen to keep his actions and the status of the assets in the Trust and Amaru in the dark, rather than allow reasonable review and comment.”
Tom’s attorneys have yet to comment on the new claims against him. The hearing for this case is set for August.
