F1 Star Lewis Hamilton Joins The New Denver Broncos Ownership Group
F1 star Lewis Hamilton joins the group of investors that plan to purchase the Denver Broncos.
International race car driver Lewis Hamilton is teaming up with the Walton-Penner group, led by Walmart heir Rob Walton, to purchase NFL team, Denver Broncos. The group includes former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who joined as an investor last month.

Walton spoke highly of Hamilton, saying in a statement:
“We’re delighted to welcome seven-time Formula One World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group. He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team.”
Hamilton announced his investment in a tweet, exclaiming:
“Excited to join an incredible group of owners and become a part of the @Broncos story!! Honoured to work with a world class team and serve as an example of the value of more diverse leadership across all sports. Roscoe already thinks he made the team #LetsRide

Also included in the Walton-Penner group are Carrie Walton-Penner and Greg Penner, Rob Walton’s daughter and son-in-law. The two are to be tasked with the day-to-day operations of the Broncos. Co-CEO of Ariel Investment, Mellody Hobson also joined the purchase.

In June, the purchase of the Denver Broncos was announced for a record-breaking $4.65 billion. The NFL will vote on August 9 to formally approve the sale to the Walton-Penner group. It will take 24 “yes” votes.
