JayDaYoungan Laid To Rest, Hundreds Gather To Pay Rapper Final Respects

Rapper JayDaYoungan has officially been laid to rest.

According to reports, on Sunday (Aug 7.) a funeral service was held for slain rapper JayDaYoungan, born Javorius Scott. The service took place in his hometown of Bogalusa at a local high school, where over 300 people reportedly crowded into the auditorium to pay their final respects to the “23 Island” rapper.

During the service, JayDaYoungan’s mother, Latisha Jefferson, gave a heartfelt speech and in part, she said,

“Jay was a good kid. He’d give you the shirt off his back.”

A family friend spoke on JayDaYoungan’s life in a recent interview and said,

“Kids loved him, everybody loved him. He’s the only one to really make it out of Bogalusa, and he gave back to the community. He did his service; he did what he was supposed to do.”

Reportedly, multiple police officers were in attendance as well in case of retaliatory violence, thankfully, no such incident occurred.

As previously reported, JayDaYoungan was pronounced dead on July 27 after succumbing to eight gunshot wounds while in his hometown of Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was 24 years old at the time of his passing.

JayDaYoungan’s father, Kenyatta Scott, previously shared that the rapper was not involved in any gangs. However, he believes jealousy played a hand in his death. According to Scott, on the day of the shooting incident, he and his son were sitting on their front porch when a black truck with three gun-wielding assailants rushed out of the vehicle.

Scott and JayDaYoungan attempted to flee into the home when two more armed individuals cut them off. Reports state that Scott attempted to protect his family, firing off a few rounds of his own before being shot twice in the arm. JayDaYoungan was shot eight times, eventually passing away while being operated on at the hospital.

To date, no arrests have been made surrounding JayDaYoungan’s death. However, the police continue to investigate.
