Chris Rock Will Be The First Person To Perform Live On Netflix
Chris Rock won’t be returning to host the Oscars, but he will be the first to use Netflix’s live streaming feature.
The comic will be the first to test out Netflix’s approach into live streaming technology, performing in a global streaming event in 2023. The popular streaming service was said to be testing the technology in May.
Following the controversial Will Smith slap incident at the Oscars, it was announced that Chris Rock would be releasing another Netflix special. He also announced during a recent stop in London on his Ego Death tour that he would go into greater detail about the experience on Netflix.

Chris Rock said,
“People expect me to talk about the bullsh*t, I’m not going to talk about it right now, I’ll get to it eventually, on Netflix.”
Netflix shared the news in a tweet, saying the comic
“is about to make history as the first artist to perform LIVE on Netflix! The legendary comedian, writer, director, and actor’s newest comedy special will premiere live — globally — in early 2023 on Netflix!”

Robbie Praw, Netflix’s VP of Stand-up and Comedy Formats, praised Chris Rock as one of the most recognizable comedians of our generation. He said,
“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation. We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch.”
