Lil Baby Trends As Fans Debate If He’s A Better Rapper Than Lil Wayne: It’s Really Not Close

Lil Baby is trending as fans are debating whether or not the Atlanta rapper is better than rap icon, Lil Wayne.

The argument seemingly began when a fan tweeted,

“Prime Lil Wayne or Current Lil Baby?”

Since then, it’s been a running debate on Twitter. Some fans are baffled at the comparison, noting that Lil Wayne is a rap legend, while others feel Lil Baby is fair competition. One user wrote,

“Prime lil wayne over ANYTHING… Carter 2&3 + Drought 3… did you really tweet this? Fall back.”

Shocked by the comparison, another person said,

“I’m guessing majority of these people in the comments are young. Because Lil Baby doesn’t even come close to Prime Lil Wayne. It’s really not close.”

From the reactions, it looks like the majority of fans are on team Lil Wayne.

The New Orleans rapper’s career began in 1995 at the age of 12, when he was signed by rapper Birdman, joining Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label. From then on, Wayne became the break-out artist of Cash Money Records. He’s reportedly sold over 120 million records worldwide, including more than 20 million albums and 70 million digital tracks in the United States, making him one of the world’s best-selling music artists. He has won five Grammy Awards, 11 BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and eight NAACP Image Awards.

He is regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of his generation and is often cited as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Just last month, Lil Wayne made history, officially joining the diamond club after his 2008 hit “Lollipop” surpassed 10 million sales in the U.S. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) took to Twitter to congratulate the iconic rapper.

Lil Wayne also took to social media to share the good news with his fans and thank them for their support.

He said,

“My first joint to go diamond wowwww!!!” he wrote. “Thank you to all my fans and supporters I Ain’t Sh*t Without Y’all!!! #LongLiveStaticMajor.”

While not as accomplished as Lil Wayne just yet, Lil Baby has definitely made a name for himself in the rap game. He rose to mainstream fame in 2017 following the release of his mixtape Perfect Timing. His debut studio album, Harder Than Ever (2018), debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart. In 2018, he released the mixtape Drip Harder (with Gunna). The leading single, “Drip Too Hard,” reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In addition to winning a Grammy Award, Lil Baby has received an MTV Video Music Award, and two BET Awards. In addition, he was crowned the biggest all-genre Artist of the Year at the Apple Music Awards 2020.
