XXXTentacion – Defense Attorneys For Men Charged w/ Murder Of Late Rapper Allude Drake May Be Responsible For His Death
Defense attorneys for the three men accused of murdering XXXTentacion have suggested that Drake may be linked to the 2018 murder.
As you may recall, XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Onfroy) was shot and killed in June 2018 after he was ambushed during an apparent robbery as he was leaving a motorsports store. Witnesses claim that after the fatal shooting of the rapper, one of the men stole a Louis Vuitton bag from his car before leaving the scene.
Suspects Michael Boatwright, 28, Trayvon Newsome, 24, and Dedrick Williams, 26, are accused of carrying out the fatal shooting. Boatwright is accused of being the shooter, while his friend, Newsome is accused of being the other gunman. Williams is accused of being the driver. All three men could receive life sentences if convicted of first-degree murder.
However, the defendants’ legal team is arguing that investigators need to examine XXXTentacion‘s feud with Drake. As previously reported, prior to his death, the “Sad!” rapper took to social media and said,
“If anyone tries to kill me, it was @champagnepapi [Drake]. I’m snitching right now”

However, he later retracted the statement claiming his account had been hacked.
Defense attorneys claim that the rapper’s death coming just four months after the slaying of 17 people at nearby Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland put the Broward Sheriff’s Office under intense political pressure to solve XXXTentacion‘s case quickly without properly investigating other suspects.
They added,
“Do you think sitting here, years later, any detective has ever asked, you know, Drake or anybody like that? No, they never did that.”

On the other hand, prosecutors say the rapper’s killing was due to a robbery gone wrong and there is no evidence linking Drake to the murder.
As previously reported, Dedrick Williams’ lawyers cited several rappers who could be suspects in the case. The list of potential witnesses/suspects includes; Drake, Joe Budden, 6ix9ine, Quavo, and Offset. It seems all the musicians listed had some kind of beef with X at some point in his career.
Despite the witness list being submitted, there is the possibility the judge could deny the motion. Prosecutors in the case have reportedly objected to the list, stating:
“It is apparent from the deliberate, late disclosure of the defendant’s witnesses and comments made between the parties that [the] defendant intended to ‘surprise’ the state and create a trial by ambush.”
XXXTentacion was a platinum-selling rising star who gained a cult following among his young fanbase during his career with his depression and alienation-themed music. He was also controversial and drew criticism over his many arrests and actions, including allegations he severely beat up and abused his girlfriend.
