Update: Ex-Lakers Star Trevor Ariza Turns Over Weapons After Estranged Wife Was Granted Restraining Order Due To His ‘Extreme’ Physical Abuse
Update: (Feb. 21, 2023): According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline, Trevor Ariza’s estranged wife Bree Anderson Ariza was granted a temporary restraining order which prohibits Ariza from coming within 100 yards of her. As you may recall, during her initial request for the restraining order she accused her former spouse of “extreme” physical abuse, claiming during one incident he choked her until she was unconscious.
Due to the guidelines of the court order, Ariza also turned over 4 guns — 2 Glocks and 2 AR-15s– to the Los Angeles Police Department. The weapons will be stored until the outcome of Bree’s restraining order, which will take place on March 8, when the court determines if a permanent restraining order will be granted.
Original story: (Feb. 15, 2023): Former Lakers star Trevor Ariza’s estranged wife is asking a judge to grant her a restraining order against the athlete.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline, Bree Anderson Ariza filed a petition for a protective order against Trevor. She wants him ordered to stay away from her and not contact her, claiming she fears for her safety.
She’s also asking that Trevor Ariza not be allowed inside their home. Furthermore, she wants sole custody awarded to her, with the NBA star only having supervised visitation.
In the restraining order petition, Bree said that during their marriage, Trevor
“engaged in acts of extreme physical abuse towards me.”
She said,
“He was verbally and emotionally abusive to me. Some of the abuse occurred in the presence of our children.”
As to why she stayed so long in the relationship, Bree said,
“I have been financially dependent on Trevor throughout our marriage.”
She hoped that filing for divorce would put an end to the alleged abuse, but claimed it hasn’t and Trevor has continued to be abusive in front of their children. She added that he “threatens me on a regular basis.”
According to Bree, Trevor lives half a mile away, which makes her uncomfortable because he has entered her home without her permission,
“as he thinks he has the right to come and go from my residence as he pleases.”
Bree said at one point he threatened to change the locks and leave her homeless if she didn’t obey all of his demands. Making matters worse, she said Trevor is still refusing to pay her child support and has threatened to take her children away.
In the restraining order petition, Bree detailed a 2021 incident where she said Trevor showed up at her home “very angry” and demanded she turns over her cell phone. When she refused, he allegedly threw her on the bed and started choking her but let go right before she passed out. She said Trevor punched her multiple times as well.
Unfortunately, the serious allegations from Bree don’t end there. She also alleged that another violent incident took place on February 17, 2020, where Trevor choked her until she passed out.
“He immediately grabbed me by the throat and started choking me until I was unconscious.”
She said, “I strongly believe that Trevor’s physical, verbal, and emotional abuse warrants a” protective order.
In her petition, she made sure to include photos of her injuries from Trevor’s alleged abuse.
Last year, Bree filed for divorce from Trevor after four years of marriage. Reportedly, she cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
According to reports, Bree demanded primary physical custody of their two kids and asked that Trevor receive visitation. She requested temporary child and spousal support from the NBA star.
In response, Trevor demanded joint physical and legal custody of their kids. He asked the court to terminate Bree’s right to spousal support.
The case is ongoing.
