Don Lemon Set To Return To CNN After Completing Formal Training Following Remarks On Women Being Past Their Prime After Hitting 30
Don Lemon has been given a chance to improve his controversial behavior.
Reportedly, in a Monday night (Feb. 20) email, CNN’s CEO Chris Licht notified employees that anchor Don Lemon is set to return to work on Wednesday (Feb. 22) after he completes formal training following his “sexist” remarks about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley. Licht reportedly said:
“I sat down with Don and had a frank and meaningful conversation. He has agreed to participate in formal training, as well as continuing to listen and learn. We take this situation very seriously.”

Although the journalist will be welcomed back to his official job, his work elsewhere has been altered. According to reports, Lemon was set to conduct a New York City event on Tuesday (Feb. 21) addressing race and real estate. However, the CNN anchor has opted out of the event due to recent backlash from his “misogynistic” comments. Don Lemon, who has since been replaced by real estate broker John Gomes, was allegedly concerned that his on-air scandal would overshadow the moment.

Lemon has been absent from the air since Feb. 16 after giving his point of view on Nikki Haley’s request that politicians at the age of 75 and up should go through mental competency exams. As previously reported, the 56-year-old said:
“She says ‘politicians are something and not in their prime,’ Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry a woman is considered being in her prime in her 20’s and 30’s and maybe 40’s.”
As his co-hosts seemingly were irritated by his comments, Lemon clarified:
“That’s not according to me.”
He elaborated:
“When you google ‘when is a woman in her prime’ it’ll say 20’s 30’s and 40’s. I’m not saying I agree with that, so I think she has to be careful about saying that politicians aren’t in their prime –”
He added:
“Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just saying what the facts are. Google it.”
Nikki Haley, former South Carolina governor, shared the clip of the journalist’s remarks on Twitter and wrote:
“Liberals can’t stand the idea of having competency tests for older politicians to make sure they can do the job.”
The 51-year-old added:
“BTW it’s always the liberals who are the most sexist.”

Lemon’s remarks ultimately went viral and generated scrutiny from viewers. The Los Angeles native quickly took to Twitter to apologize for his “inartful and irrelevant” comments. He wrote:
“The reference I made to a woman’s “prime” this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”
