Whoopi Goldberg Doubts Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Were Involved In A ‘Near Catastrophic Car Chase’ w/ Aggressive Paparazzi: ‘It Just Doesn’t Work In New York’
Looks like Whoopi Goldberg wants receipts before she believes that paparazzi were recently too aggressive with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Earlier this week Meghan Markle, 41, was honored at the Women of Vision Awards in Manhattan. Her husband, Prince Harry, 38, and mother, Doria Ragland, 66, were in attendance as well. Unfortunately, following the event, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were allegedly followed by “a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi” in a crazy two-hour chase.

A rep for the famous couple released a statement yesterday (May 17) detailing what occured and said,
“Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi. This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers.”
They continued,
“While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.”

However, during the latest episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg, 67, questioned the validity of the Sussexes’ car chase. She said:
“Their spokesperson called it a near catastrophic car chase. Others said it wasn’t bad, but I think people in New York know if it was possible to have car chases in New York, we’d all make it to the theater on time.”
She continued,
“I think their spokesperson referenced something that you generally would reference in Los Angeles. That’s where you have chases, that’s where you can move at high speeds.”
Whoopi added,
“I think they were dealing with aggressive paparazzi, but I don’t think it was where, you know, you’re watching on TV … just watching the cars go … because it just doesn’t work in New York.”

Sara Haines, 45, seemingly agreed with what her co-host said and added,
“The terms they used were misleading.”
However, Sunny Hostin, 54, defended the royal couple and said,
“No one ever claimed that there was a high-speed chase and I think when we think about chases, we think about high-speed chases.”
She added,
“If they felt scared, I will grant them that. … When you look at a situation like this, where his mother died of a catastrophic car chase and he knows that and [Meghan] knows that, I wouldn’t wanna be in a situation where e-bikes and Sedans are sort of following me aggressively around the city.”
You may be aware that in 1997 Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, died at age 36 in a car crash that involved paparazzi.
