The wife of Ariana Grande‘s rumored new fling, Ethan Slater, is clearing the air.

Ethan Slater‘s estranged wife Lilly Jay is finally speaking out after “watching with horror” as accounts of her experience have been published.

During recent interviews, the musician said,

“I’m focused on my son and doing my best to navigate a spotlight I have never wanted or experienced before.”

Lilly Jay addressed her ex’s blossoming romance with his Wicked co-star Ariana Grande and expressed,

“[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.”

Lilly Jay, who shares a son with the SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical star, added “The story is her and Dalton,” alluding to Ariana Grande‘s divorce from her spouse of two years, Dalton Gomez.

Jay was reportedly “blindsided” by her husband’s relationship with Grande. The “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” singer and Slater, however, insist they did not start dating until after his breakup with Jay.

According to a source,

“[Jay’s] telling Ethan and others that she only cares about protecting their child. She’s rightfully upset because her marriage fell apart, but Ariana and Ethan didn’t do anything wrong.”

The insider said Slater and his wife were separated for two months before he began romancing Grande. The Broadway actor filed divorce papers Wednesday (Jul. 26) to put an end to their four-year marriage.

Jay said,

“I am asking for privacy and respect as an individual who is not in the entertainment industry and as a mom. I ask to be left alone to rebuild my life and raise the beautiful boy I gave birth to last year.”
