Tupac Shakur — Bail Hearing For Rapper’s Accused Killer Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis Postponed
Duane “Keffe D” Davis will have to wait another week to learn if his request to be released from the Clark County Detention Center will be granted.
According to reports, the former gang member was scheduled to appear in court today (Jan. 2) and request permission to be released on house arrest ahead of his highly-anticipated trial. ??Court-appointed lawyers for Davis claim he’s dealing with poor health, is no danger to the community, and is not a flight risk. Reportedly, they want the judge to set his bail no higher than $100,000.
As previously reported, the 60-year-old was arrested in September 2023 for allegedly orchestrating the killing of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur in 1996 in Las Vegas. In Nevada, an individual can be charged for helping someone commit a crime. After being charged with murder Davis pleaded not guilty on November 2.
Davis’ bail hearing has been rescheduled for next Tuesday (Jan. 9). Reportedly, prosecutors have described Davis as the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Tupac. They have also argued against Davis’ release, claiming that the lives of witnesses from the infamous shooting will be put at risk if he’s placed on house arrest.
The trial will start in June.
