Nia Long & Ime Udoka Settle Child Support Case, Actress Awarded More Than $56,000 Monthly Though They Later Mutually Agree On $32,500 Due To Her Successful Career
Actress Nia Long and ex boyfriend Ime Udoka have finalized post separation child care for their son.
Reportedly, “The Best Man” star was given a substantial award for monthly support, though she ultimately seems to have cut her former fiancé some slack.
According to reports, the courts initially ruled that 53-year-old Nia Long was entitled to receive a total of $56,389 from Ime Udoka’s monthly income to help support their 12-year-old son Kez. The number was reportedly calculated based off the NBA coach’s disposable monthly income of $465,804, as well as the fact that the teen will be with his mother 95% of time. However, the report notes that since Long is a “high-earning actress and businesswoman”, the two agreed that a payment of $32,500 on Udoka’s behalf would suffice.
As we previously reported, the former couple were initially embroiled in a bitter custody battle following their very messy breakup back in 2022. If you recall, the “Don’t Look Up” actress left her longtime beaux after it was revealed he was having an affair with a female staffer during his time with the Boston Celtics. The 46-year-old sports professional was subsequently let go from his position as head coach due to the ordeal, and ended up also losing his 13 year relationship with Long.
In the aftermath of the scandal, Long was very vocal about how their son was struggling to come to terms with what was happening. The entertainer claimed that due to the poor handling of the situation on the Celtics’ part, she was forced to temporarily withdraw Kez from school. When it was time to go to court and hash out how the two would move forwards as co-parents, Long reportedly requested sole legal and physical custody. Udoka quickly fired back, however, making his argument for joint physical and legal custody.
It seems the pair were ultimately able to agree on the matter. The report notes Long and Udoka will share to joint custody, though the teen will primarily live with his mother in Los Angeles. The Houston coach will be entitled to reasonable visitation, but is required to give written notice to his ex at least 10 days prior to visiting. Additionally, Udoka will reportedly maintain Kez’s health and dental insurance and will be privy to decision making regarding his overall health, education, and welfare in collaboration with Long. It’s noted that should the two disagree on any of the matters, however, the TV star has authority to make the final call as long as Udoka is notified with the exception of routine and medical emergencies.
Neither have spoken publicly about the case at this time.
