Azealia Banks Takes Jabs At Beyonce’s Newly Released Country Songs As Tracks Shoot To Top 10 On iTunes: ‘You’re Setting Yourself Up To Be Ridiculed Again’
Controversial rapper Azealia Banks is speaking out against Beyonce, once again.

During the 2024 Super Bowl last night (Feb. 11), Beyonce caught the world off guard by debuting two new country songs, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.” She also announced details of the second album, reportedly titled “Act II,” in her trilogy series, and revealed she’s heading in a new direction: country music. The album is set to be released on March 29.

Even though “Queen Bey” fans are excited about it, others are not.
Azealia Banks went on a tangent about the announcement on her Instagram Story today (Feb. 12) with a lengthy text post.
She wrote,
“Ugh Bianca girl I love you down but them r&b runs over the leslie feist back beats is giving pickmesha…Nothing country about it. You’re setting yourself up to be ridiculed again. There’s a theatrical element to country music!!! Them critics are not just going to accept an ugly blond wig and, bullying from Jay-Z!!!”
Azealia Banks continued to slam the music superstar,
“It’s giving big time musical grift. Yes black girls can make country music…but you’re just really not hitting the button.”
As if those remarks weren’t enough, she also added,
“Beyonce please stop the medness. The gay baiting, the overtly narcissistic attempts to lazily enroach into a genre *you think,* your popularity is gonna gain accolades for you in…You’re looking like food sis. You will gag when k Michelle tears it.”
See how some fans reacted to Banks’ remarks below:

Before today (Feb. 12), Banks has criticized Beyonce multiple times. One instance was in 2022 when she accused the multi-Grammy-Award-winning artist of stealing from Black creatives.

Despite Banks blasting Beyonce for stepping into the country music scene, the newly released songs are already in the top 10 on the Apple music chart.
“Texas Hold ‘Em” is the No. 2 song on the iTunes chart as of 3 p.m. Monday, and “16 Carriages” is ranked No. 4.
