Wendy Williams Criticized For Harsh Comments Made Toward Publicist In New Docuseries: ‘Dementia Or Not, It Is Unacceptable To Treat People This Way’
A new docuseries about Wendy Williams has viewers split on the famed media personality’s behavior.

The former daytime talk show host’s team recently revealed Wendy Williams has been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Following the announcement, part one of the ‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’ docuseries premiered on Lifetime on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Part one featured candid moments about the state of her health, struggles with alcohol and drug abuse, as well as how lymphedema has affected Wendy Williams’ mobility.

The docuseries, reportedly filmed between August 2022 and April 2023, has sparked a debate online about the way Wendy treated her staff during a seemingly dark time in her life. One questionable moment showed Wendy verbally hostile toward her nail tech over how the woman applied nail polish. After telling her to remove the polish, Wendy asked,
“Are you stupid?”
Wendy is also caught on camera calling her publicist, Shawn Zanotti, a “dumba**” after she tried to put a jacket back in the closet. Wendy ordered,
“Put it in the same position, please. Close it all the way. Dumba**.”
Dementia or not, this not how one should be treating people. Period.
Being nasty to assistants is just horrible.

Wendy also told the publicist that she “wished” she would get liposuction, but the comments didn’t seem to bother Zanotti as she seemingly brushed it off and said she has “thick skin.” Those weren’t the only times Wendy got hostile with Zanotti. In fact, she also became upset with Zanotti when she couldn’t find the vape she wanted.

The public has expressed mixed reactions about Wendy and her publicist on X. Some people said that the publicist enabled Wendy’s behavior. In contrast, others felt bad about how Wendy treated Zanotti.

Wendy’s actions didn’t surprise some people working with her. In the documentary’s first episode, Wendy’s manager, Will Selby, said he’s noticed she’s become “more aggressive.” He added, however,
“Wendy’s being pissed off is normal. She changes her mind all the time.”
The final two episodes of ‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’ premieres tonight on Lifetime.
