NBA Star John Wall Opens Up About Contemplating Suicide Following The 2019 Death Of His Mother: ‘I Put A Gun To My Head Twice’
Mental health is a struggle for everyone, including the wealthy and famous.
Basketball star John Wall recently reminded people of that fact while opening up about intense suicidal thoughts he had after losing his mother a few years ago.

John Wall, 33, spoke about the matter during a recent interview on The OGs podcast with former NBA stars Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller. While discussing the importance of mental health by sharing his own internal battle, Wall stated about his mother Frances Pulley:
“My mom was my best friend, like I still got her same phone number saved. I text it every morning…I used to talk to her about 5, 6 times a day,”

He continued:
“I try to tell people mental health is serious so I had to go see a therapist after that…if it wasn’t for my two boys, I would’ve k*lled myself. I put a gun to my head twice, and a lot of people that are close to me and my friends at the time, didn’t know.”

The hoper went on to state that the alarming videos he posted online at the time were only a reflection of him trying to find happiness in his “darkest moment.” If you recall, Frances Pulley succumbed to a long battle with breast cancer in December of 2019. Additionally, Wall was also reportedly grappling with a series of injuries from earlier that year after inking a $170 million deal with the Washington Wizards. Wall previously spoke about how the culmination of burdens at the time sparked his suicidal ideations back in 2022.

Despite the anguish he endured learning to live without his best friend, Wall said he knew he had to get it together not only for himself but for his young sons as well. He went on to state during the interview:
“If I take myself away from this Earth, I’m failing my kids, like, who gon’ be able to raise them…I know I gotta be there for them.”

Wall also encouraged everyone, especially men who shy away from being candid about their mental health, to seek out therapy and ask for help when needed.
