Travis Scott Says His Efforts To Win A Grammy ‘Gets Rough At Times’ But Admits He Still Wants One Despite Numerous Losses
Rap star Travis Scott hasn’t given up on winning a Grammy award just yet.
The 32-year-old recently shared his thoughts on the controversial music award show, expressing both his admiration and frustration at being a 10-time nominee but never winning.
Travis Scott was asked his thoughts about the matter during a recent appearance on Lebron James’ talk series The Shop. After one of the hosts mentioned that the Grammys are “completely subjective”, the “Sicko Mode” artist stated:
“A lot of our peers everyone’s like, ‘F**k that award.’ I f**k with it. You play football to win a Super Bowl, you play basketball to win championships. It’s what that Grammy used to mean is the idea I hold on to.”

He continued:
“That award is just like at one point was held up to a higher stature, but I still believe it, in a sense…it gets rough at times.”
Taking a look at his history with the Grammys it’s no wonder why many are confused about Travis Scott remaining a willing contender. If you recall, back in 2019, Scott and his millions of fans were disappointed when his wildly successful Astroworld lost Best Rap Album to then-newcomer Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy. At one point the Bronx native took to X (then known as Twitter) to defend her win and condemn Scott‘s critical fans, letting them know that she and her fellow rap star actually had a good relationship.
Last year Scott’s #1 Billboard 200 album Utopia also lost the top rap award again, this time to Killer Mike’s Michael. In total, the rapper has been nominated 10 times for different Grammy awards and has still not won a single one. Despite this being the case, Scott explained why he continues to speak highly of the award show and why he’ll continue his efforts for a Grammy win. He added during the interview:
“I think about it like a club right. If there’s a Grammy club and you got Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder like these are real greats. Kanye West…Jay-Z…I’m at that mother [f**king] rope like…’Yo y’all see me…you hear my music.'”
“In the party like they can’t even party to the [people] who are in the club…it’s obviously going to be a club [where] you can party to like J, all these amazing artists…[then] you got some people outside…like d**n, and they music playing all night…it’s fun, but I’m an artist you know.”
