Owen Wilson Turned Down $12 Million Role In Movie That Suggests O.J. Simpson ‘Didn’t Do It,’ Director Says + Boris Kodjoe Plays Late NFL Star

Owen Wilson declined a multi-million dollar bag over a project that implies O.J. Simpson’s innocence.

The film The Juice stars Boris Kodjoe as O.J. Simpson and British actress Charlotte Kirk as the late NFL star’s slain wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. However, director Joshua Newton says the movie is really about attorney Douglas McCann, who was sold on conspiracy theories during O.J. Simpson’s trial in the 90s.

Joshua Newton said recently that he believed Owen Wilson was the best person to portray McCann. However, Owen wasn’t a fan of the plot. Joshua Newton said,

“I actually had a meeting with him in Santa Monica. Everybody loved the script. His agent wanted him to do it. We offered him $12 million. But at the end of the lunch, Owen stood up and said, ‘If you think I’m going to take the lead role in a movie about how O.J. didn’t do it, you’ve got to be kidding me.’”

Joshua Newton said he has another actor who is “spot on” for the role, but hasn’t said who yet. The movie is scheduled to be done by Oct. 3, 2025, which happens to be the 30th anniversary that Simpson was acquitted for Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman’s murders. Simpson, who was widely accused of carrying out the brutal crimes, was deemed innocent after a high-profile court case in 1995. Despite the ruling, many are convinced that he literally got away with murder.

Meanwhile, Boris Kodjoe is settling into his role in a new teaser for the movie. He’s seen in an electric chair making an inaudible statement.

The revelation about the film comes after Simpson died of prostate cancer earlier this month. He was 76. His attorney said last week that he was cremated in a private ceremony, and there are no plans for a public memorial service.
