Country Singer Ingrid Andress Says She’s Going To Rehab Following Viral Drunken National Anthem Performance
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in finding a solution.
For Monday night’s (July 15) Home Run Derby at Texas’ Globe Life Field, country singer Ingrid Andress was tapped to perform the national anthem ahead of the start of the game. What was meant to be a beautiful moment of tradition was quickly turned into a viral moment of embarrassment as the crowd and home viewers realized something was off with Ingrid Andress, or at least her vocals.

During the performance, she seemed to greatly struggle to find the correct key, pushing through with a notably cracked voice. One camera angle even seemingly showed a player fighting back his laughter.

Today (July) Ingrid Andress addressed what happened. In a statement shared online, she revealed that she “was drunk” and has decided to check herself into rehab. The 32-year-old Michigan native wrote,
“I’m not gonna bullsh*t y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night.”
The post continued,
“I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun. xo, Ingrid.”

Video of her performance has gone viral online, with many comparing the moment to when Fergie sang the national anthem in 2018 at the NBA All-Star Game. The “London Bridge” artist became a meme, finding herself at the center of ongoing jokes from the public.
