Zendaya’s Alleged Fallout w/ ‘Euphoria’ Director Sam Levinson Reportedly Played A Role In Show’s Delay
Superstar actress Zendaya has reportedly not been pleased with Euphoria director Sam Levinson.
A recent report claims that the once close-knit pair have struggled to find chemistry again after ongoing tension, which is allegedly holding up the progress of the show.

Sam Levinson, Zendaya
The bombshell report from The Hollywood Reporter alleges that strife between Zendaya, 27, and Sam Levinson, 39, began after the latter took his talents to the short-lived HBO series The Idol. If you remember, the controversial show, centered around a fading pop star falling for a masochist cult leader, debuted in June last year. The series starred pop singer The Weeknd and actress Lily-Rose Depp.

Reportedly, Sam Levinson initially joined The Idol in more of a consultant role, though he found himself leading the charge as writer/director by the time production began. His involvement reportedly became problematic for Zendaya, as work on Euphoria was allegedly put on the back burner due to Levinson’s stretched responsibilities. The report claims that the director failed to deliver completed scripts for season 3 of the Zendaya-led show, which is reportedly still in the works more than two years after the second season’s finale.
Additionally, the report claims that Zendaya’s disappointments grew more after a scathing Rolling Stone article accused Levinson’s leadership on The Idol of being “disgustingly, disturbingly off the rails.” In the piece, crewmembers also called the series “sexual torture porn” featuring the “rape fantasy” of a “toxic man.”
The show was canceled after 1 season, while the fate of Euphoria – to date – still remains unclear. When asked about the show’s return in April, Zendaya played coy and suggested that the hold-up was “beyond” anything in her power to fix.
However, more recent reports claim the season should return sometime in 2025.
