Salt-N-Pepa’s Pepa Demands Investigation From Southwest Airlines After Being Kicked Off Flight, Says Racial Profiling May Have Played Part
Pepa is turning up the heat on Southwest Airlines following a contentious flight incident.
Salt-N-Pepa’s Sandra Denton, known as Pepa, is demanding that Southwest Airlines investigate her recent removal from a flight and preserve all evidence in case legal action follows.
In a legal letter obtained by media outlets, Pepa’s attorneys have accused the airline of mishandling the situation, suggesting that racial profiling and discrimination may have been involved. The letter also claims that Pepa suffered embarrassment, harassment, and a loss of income as a result.
Pepa’s legal team has detailed several grievances in their letter, including claims of inappropriate behavior by a male agent who they believe engaged in “unnecessary action” during the incident. They allege that Pepa, who was wearing a knee brace due to a past injury, was pressured to relinquish one of her two purchased seats—an action they argue was unjust and discriminatory.
The attorneys are seeking a “fair and transparent resolution” and have instructed Southwest to preserve all related evidence, warning that failure to do so could result in a lawsuit.
The controversy began last month when Pepa was removed from a flight in Las Vegas, despite having purchased two seats for medical reasons.
Pepa said she was initially asked to give up one seat but was later pressured to relinquish it again when a male passenger boarded and couldn’t find a seat. Despite remaining calm throughout the situation, Pepa’s seat was ultimately given to the passenger. She was then escorted off the plane after being informed that her FaceTime call—mistakenly believed to be video recording—was considered disruptive, although Pepa denied recording any video.
Adding to the tension, Southwest refunded Pepa $2,500 for the seats but claimed they were purchased incorrectly.

Pepa’s legal team has given Southwest until the end of the month to respond to their demands.
