Ginuwine Encourages People Struggling w/Addiction To ‘Reach Out For Help’ While Celebrating 2 Months Of Sobriety

Congratulations are in order for R&B vet Ginuwine!

The 53-year-old recently shared that he’s made it two months into his sobriety journey and encouraged others dealing with any kind of addiction to seek help and start the recovery process themselves.

Ginuwine, real name Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, took to social media Thursday (Sept. 5) to celebrate the accomplishment. He wrote in a post:

“[And] counting!!!! I am still going strong 2 months sober, maybe seems like a lil time to you, but to me and most.”

Continuing, the “Pony” singer encouraged others who have experienced similar struggles, making it clear no negative feelings should be associated with trying to get better. He added,

“Don’t be ashamed reach out for help like I did bcz alot of times, well, most times, you need that support !!!!and I love the fact I didn’t fail !!!!”

Going on, Ginuwine expressed how proud he was of himself for standing “10 toes down” and committing himself to rehabilitation. It’s unclear what exactly sparked the change for the musician, though one report notes that he also spoke about being on a fitness journey in preparation to get back to making music. He wrote:

“I’m proud of myself after two weeks I’m just saying I had NO definition AT ALL…I ain’t stopping gotta get ripped, back to the basics 500 sit ups 600 push ups a day…I’m just trying to get back right and get this body together again…Don’t hate HELP!!! then NEW [MUSIC].”

The singer ended his post on Thursday by leaving some words of inspiration to anyone who may be ready for change in their lives, writing: ”

“we ain’t waivering…anyone going through addiction , drugs alcoholism please please please look within yourself and know your better than failing !!!!your strong !!!!you are ME !!!!!super!!!! Get up,let’s go !!! We got this !!!!”
