‘ShxtsNGigs’ Podcast Hosts James Duncan & Fuhad Dawodu Apologize For Laughing At ‘Racist’ Jokes About Black Women

James Duncan and Fuhad Dawodu are apologizing after they laughed at jokes about Black women that they are now calling “racist.”

The pair, who host one of the U.K.’s most popular podcasts ShxtsNGigs, were on tour in the U.S. and stopped by the Flagrant podcast hosted by Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh.

During the now-viral episode of the Flagrant podcast, James Duncan and Fuhad Dawodu were asked how they feel about Meghan Marklewith Andrew Schulz stating,

“She stole your Ginge.”

He was referring to Meghan Markle marrying Prince Harry.

When they said they were just fine with Meghan Markle and here for the “Black Girlfriend Effect” Andrew Schulz responded,

“You’re into that?”

Akaash Singh added,

“What’s the Black Girlfriend Effect? They just come in and start fighting?”

Andrew Schulz continued grilling about the definition of the Black Girlfriend Effect, and James Duncan and Fuhad Dawodu explained that it’s when a white man “glows up” by getting a clean-shaved haircut, growing out a beard, and getting tattoos while dating a Black woman.

Andrew responded,

“They shave their hair cause they start losing it, ’cause they’re so stressed being around this Black girl complaining about sh*t all the f*ck*ng time.”

James and Fuhad then start laughing.

Andrew also said White men dating Black women,

“Grow a beard ’cause there’s more cushion when they get slapped the f*ck out of.”

And James and Fuhad kept laughing.

Andrew still continued and said,

“I think the Black Girlfriend might be a protective instinct bro.”

He then asked James and Fuhad if they’ve ever dated a Black woman, to which they responded yes. They also told him they dated White girls when he asked. The two got quiet when Andrew asked what their favorite is before Fuhad said,

“We love them all.”

Akaash Singh said,

“That means White.”

All of them start laughing, but Fuhad and James weren’t heard clarifying or correcting them.

James and Fuhad have since issued an apology after receiving a ton of backlash for not speaking up.

James said that during the podcast appearance there were lots of “inappropriate” jokes, specifically one about “Black women.”

“In the clip Andrew was making a, frankly racist joke, and we were laughing at it. There’s literally no excuse. There is no excuse. Fight or flight is a real thing.”

He said that looking at the situation, it might be easy to say you’d have a more aggressive response against Andrew, however, sitting in it was totally different. Fuhad added,

“You’re in shock and all you want to do is move on.”

James agreed and said they had to tell Andrew “so many times” to “just move on” to another topic.

They confessed they thought the interview would just be a “bros chat” but admitted,

“It hurt people that really really look to us for support and look to us to feel protected. It is our duty to protect you guys and it is definitely not cool to be in that situation and again, not being the ones to stand up and kick the cameras down. We f*cked it on that occasion.”

James added,

It’s not gonna happen again. It’s about being human. It’s about realizing you don’t know how to prepare for something that you don’t know is going to happen.

Fuhad said that they’ve learned from their mistakes as he and James apologized.

What are your thoughts on the moment and the apology?
