The Guardian Quits X, Citing ‘Far-Right Conspiracy Theories & Racism’

The Guardian is taking a stand by officially stepping away from X (formerly Twitter), citing “often disturbing content,” including “far-right conspiracy theories and racism,” as a major factor.

The prominent British news publisher, with 10.8 million followers on the platform, announced,

“We think that the benefits of being on X are now outweighed by the negatives and that resources could be better used promoting our journalism elsewhere.”

Elon Musk, who took over X in 2022, didn’t waste time responding, calling The Guardian

“a laboriously vile propaganda machine.”

His approach to running the platform has drawn significant criticism, with some claiming it has allowed misinformation and hate speech to flourish.
