CDC Staff Ordered To Cut All Communication w/ World Health Organization Amid U.S. Withdrawl
CDC employees were instructed Monday to halt communications with the World Health Organization (WHO), following President Donald Trump’s executive order to begin withdrawing U.S. funding from the U.N. agency. The order also mandates recalling U.S. personnel from WHO roles.
“The fact is that there is no alternative to WHO,” said former CDC official James LeDuc, warning that the move could hinder global disease responses.

Critics worry the decision undermines public health, as the WHO plays a vital role in outbreak alerts and vaccine coordination. Donald Trump cited WHO mismanagement of COVID-19 as justification, suggesting future U.S. involvement may depend on reforms.
