Temple University Student Arrested For Impersonating ICE Agent Amidst Trump’s Mass Deportations
Temple University is investigating an incident after a student was arrested for impersonating a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer on campus.
On Saturday night (Feb. 1), campus police responded to a report of people impersonating ICE officers at Insomnia Cookies on Cecil B. Moore Avenue. The suspects were wearing shirts with “Police” and “ICE” in white lettering. One of them was seen recording the incident, and later, all three suspects attempted to enter the Johnson & Hardwick Residence Hall, though they were denied access.

22-year-old Aidan Steigelmann has been arrested and charged with impersonating a public servant. He has also been placed on interim suspension while the police investigation continues.
Temple police called the incident “deeply troubling and disappointing” and assured students and staff that no federal ICE agents have been seen on campus. Authorities are still searching for two additional male suspects.
This comes on the heels of recent ICE raids prompted by President Trump’s orders to deport migrants reportedly involved in criminal activity.
